Soaring hardwood demand prompts Sri Lankan forestry investment
05/10/2009
A leading UK property investment consultancy has described its new forestry investment in Sri Lanka as "somewhat of a no-brainer", mainly because of the growth in demand for tropical hardwood products.
Representatives for Property Frontiers say their forestry investment in Sri Lankan tropical hardwood products is capable of returning £256,000 from an outlay of just £15,000.
Ben Jeffries, a sourcing manager with the firm, remarked that the new forestry investment is "potentially so lucrative" because the supply of tropical hardwood products is "physically unable" to keep up with soaring demand.
"In recent years wood flooring has become massively popular, with tropical wood species being among the most popular," he noted, adding that they are also among the most expensive species because short supply makes the products difficult to obtain.
"This makes an investment like this somewhat of a no-brainer, especially when you take it as part of your Self Invested Personal Pension," he concluded.
Jeffries' colleagues at the company have reiterated that the forestry initiative presents an "ideal" first investment, and also "an ideal first step" towards a secure financial future.
