Timber investment trade fair comes to London
19/07/2010
Timber investments will be the subject of a two-day trade fair due to be held in London this October.
Timber Invest Europe 2010 is one of the first of its kind to be staged in Europe and reflects timber's growing popularity as an asset class due to its low risk and diversifying nature.
A spokesman for the show, which is being organised by international events group Arena, said the time was perfect for a show like this in Europe.
"Until recently, most institutional investment in timber was in the USA," he said. "This is changing now as more and more European institutional investors are choosing timber as part of their alternative investment portfolio."
He said he expected both new and established investors in the commodity to attend the fair, including people involved in pension funds, endowments, insurance companies and family offices.
Opportunities at the conference will include information on the hottest new markets to invest in and a mapping out of a full range of factors to decide which partners can lead to better returns and value for money. There will also be a closed panel investor-only session to discuss the potential investment markets, portfolio optimisation strategies and risk management in a turbulent financial market.
The conference will take place on 26-27 October 2010 at an as yet unconfirmed location.
